The Club will again be running Easter Courses as follows:
- U9-U5 on Tuesday/Wednesday 3-4 April from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm
- U14-U10 on Thursday/Friday 12-13 April from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm
The U14-U10 course will again build on the basic technical skills of batting, bowling and fielding as well as introduce more game-based scenarios to improve running between the wickets, knowledge of fielding positions, laws of cricket and how to cope in various game situations etc. We want this course to be fun so that the younger Juniors can appreciate the enjoyment of playing cricket and look forward to games in the summer. Although there is a spread of ages we will ensure the activities in the course are adapted to cover the different abilities. I am also arranging to provide PitchVision (video analysis) capability for those Juniors who request it. This technology assists learning and enables the player to see step by step breakdowns of each individual shot or bowling delivery during practice.
This course will also be ideal for those Club Juniors who have not been able to make the Winter Training sessions. This will enable them to undertake useful preparation for the season since our Junior games commence in early May so there will only be a couple of practice sessions before teams are picked for the first games. It is planned to go outside at the Club using the nets and outfield for the U14-U10 age group course. If the weather forecast is poor we will investigate using Kings International College Sports Hall, but there would have to be a supplement added to cover the costs of hiring Kings International College.
The U9-U5 course will provide a fun Introduction to Cricket encompassing the fundamentals of the game, ie catching, throwing, fielding a ball, batting and bowling. Activities will also cover the necessary key movement skills through a series of fun games to promote teamwork and enjoyment. This year the Club will again be running U9 and U8 teams in the West Surrey Youth Cricket League so this course will again be ideal for Juniors, who have not been able to make the Winter Training sessions on a Monday evening. The U9-U5 course will take place indoors at Kings International College. The cost of this year’s course is higher than 2017 because of the increased hire costs from Kings International College.
We are also happy that Juniors attend by individual sessions rather than commit to 4 sessions if timings make this more preferable for parents. Each course will be of 4 sessions over 2 days. Both these courses are open to Boys and Girls. Hopefully these timings work for parents and their children over the Easter holidays.
All attendees are asked to bring a packed lunch and drinks as well as suitable clothing/footwear whether for outdoors on grass and the nets or for indoors. Attendees will meet either at the Club or Kings International College at the start of the day depending on the course.
Costs are provided on the attached booking forms. If you wish to attend please complete the booking form and return to Gill Abraham. Payment can be made by BACS to the Club’s Lloyds Account 00121380, Sort Code 30-91-53. Suggest reference “Surname - JEC” or by cheque made payable to “Camberley Cricket Club Ltd”.
The closing date for receiving bookings is Saturday 31 March for the U9-U5 course and Sunday 8 April for the U14-U10 course.
