The Club is again offering one-to-one coaching over half-term during the day. These sessions will take place in the nets or on the outfield at the Club and be delivered either by myself, Warren Ekstraal, Dom Peter or possibly Jimmy Day. The team of coaches have a variety of skill sets and to give you an idea these are as follows:
• Warren Ekstraal - Level 2 Coach. Leg Spin Bowling and Batting. The Club’s 2017 Overseas Player. Mobile - 07542 168052.
• Dom Peter - Level 2 Coach. 1st XI Player. Batting and Spin Bowling. Mobile - 07568 090663.
• Jimmy Day - Level 2 Coach. Batting and Seam Bowling. The Club’s 2015 Overseas Player and 1st XI Vice-Captain. Mobile - 07478 144544.
• Paul Abraham - Level 3 Staff Coach. Batting and Wicket-keeping. Mobile - 07968 983453.
Clearly one-to-one coaching allows the player to experience full attention from ourselves as Coaches in order to help improve specific areas of their game. The same applies with a small group where coach “face time” with individual players can be maximised.
I see these sessions lasting one hour for one-to-ones or possibly 1.5 hours for a small group session. We would intend using the nets and possibly bowling machine to provide a maximum number of hits to the player, if the session emphasis is batting. We would similarly use the nets for bowling coaching to practice improving individual actions, practicing bowling areas, trying out and optimising different deliveries etc. Wicket keeping coaching can also be maximised using the bowling machine for work standing up or standing back. My bowling machine is additionally capable of feeding tennis balls so this can provide a consistent feed for our younger Juniors who have yet to move to a hard ball.
The cost of these sessions will need to be agreed with individual coaches. Clearly for a small group of 2, 3 or 4 this cost can be spread amongst players.
We are looking to offer the half-term sessions from Tuesday 30 May to Friday 2 June during the morning and afternoon. Clearly we would prefer to be able to group sessions together in order to use coach time effectively. If there is demand for these one-to-one or small group sessions I will need to put a schedule together so that we can be clear when the nets are in use and therefore not available to Club members for casual use. In addition it should be noted that one-to-one sessions will be available for the rest of the season for Juniors if requested.
The Club will again be running Summer Camps in the school holidays for different age-groups. These will take place in the last week of July and the second and third weeks of August.
If you are interested in taking up this opportunity for additional coaching for your son or daughter during half-term week, please contact me with your proposed session time and the coach you would prefer so that I can add it to the master schedule.
