U11s win in style against Frimley
Great Batting and fieldwork sees our U11s through
Camberley won the toss and elected to field, sending in Ollie and Hugo as the openers. Tight bowling and virtually no extras, and an LBW saw Frimley with only around 20 runs after six overs, and the opposition were beginning to look like England against Australia. Then a great catch by Henry E off the bowling of Harry and an excellent throw-in by Harry creating a run out , removed the Frimley higher order, and the remaining batsmen only managed some ones and twos to bring their total to 82 for 7. Far fewer extras than on Friday although there were still a few shockers here and there, and the field was talking to each other, always positively encouraging and egging each other on which was gratifying to watch. Adrian and Henry took to the crease after the break, and started well, with several fours, lots of good calling and communication, and many runs stolen in in-imitable Henry E style, until sadly he lofted one for a catch. Adrian soon followed bowled and it was up to Owen and Harry B, who both rose to the occasion, sending through a whole swathe of fours, twos and ones so that Camberley were up to their 50 after only 6 overs. Owen remained at the crease until the close, batting on with Nayan and then Ollie, and amsassing a good total himself, but keeping the flow of runs going. The score was mounting, the parents were getting noisier, the non-playing batsmen were lying all over the scoreboard to keep the tension high .... CCC Only needed another two runs, a dot ball followed, and then Ollie managaed a final four back past the bowler to third man to clinch the victory. Well done to a superb example of teamwork and great cricket all round.
