Late season win against the Old Rivals
By Ian SIMPSON
Fabulous fielding from Camberley seal the win
Valley End won the toss and wisely decided to bat , on an extremely tight boundary which promised a lot of easy fours and sixes. However, our boys were up to the challenge, and by keeping the bowling tight and at good length with no wides, managed to limit Valley End's chances of scoring. Hugo, Henry(s), Owen and Kai did some amazing saves and stops to save masses and masses of fours, allowing VE only a single for each effort instead of the four, limiting their score dramatically. First wicket to Ollie, when his delivery was hoisted and caught safeley at Long On by Harry Baker. Soon afterwards Henry Elliot just put a catch down but was quick enough to scoop up the ball and hurl it at the wicket, grabbing a run out for the second wicket. Kai came in to bowl and sent down some awesome deliveries, culminating in a clean bowled wicket, removing the middle stump. The fielding, wickie stops by Adrian, and constant encouragement to each other was a wonder to behold! Camberley gave away NO EXTRAS apart from a couple of byes, which is a first for the season and probably helped seal the win. Valley End finished their 20 overs on an eminently reachable 82, and Camberley took to the crease.
Adrian and Henry opened cautiously, only amassing 7 and 8 respectively before retiring. Harry Baker was the star batsman with 31 not out, includng five fours and a six...! Very well done Harry. Ollie followed with a ten, reaching the total, with the help of Hugo's awesome ramp shot (the result of a bet beforehand with Henry E!) and the match was all over after ten overs. A fine win, built on the foundation of no extras and some excellent fielding, stopping all those expensive fours.
Well done all the Under 11s on a fantastic end to the season!
